Learn more about a founder of Johnson + Johnson Attorneys at Law

Attorney Kevin JohnsonKevin C. Johnson is a founding member of Johnson + Johnson Attorneys at Law whose primary focus is representing plaintiffs in serious personal injury litigation.

Upon graduating law school with the highest honors, Mr. Johnson passed the South Carolina Bar with a score that ranked in the top 1% of scores nationally.  Mr. Johnson also accepted his first post-graduate position and served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Benjamin H. Culbertson in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina.  This permitted Mr. Johnson to sit next to the Judge on the bench for one year, and to witness first-hand countless trials and other court proceedings.

After Mr. Johnson’s Judicial Clerkship term, he accepted a position as an Associate Attorney at a litigation firm, representing both plaintiffs and defendants (individuals and corporations) in complex civil litigation matters, including commercial and business litigation, estate and probate litigation, and serious personal injury litigation.  Specifically, during his time as an Associate, Mr. Johnson represented clients on a multitude of litigation matters including issues involving:

  • Serious injuries arising from motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and products liability;
  • Serious injuries resulting from animal attacks (both canine and feline);
  • Business litigation matters;
  • Constitutional violations in federal court;
  • Complex probate and estate litigation with high stakes;
  • Pro bono representation of persons incarcerated for injuries sustained in prison;
  • Professional Negligence litigation;
  • And other cases involving complex issues

In addition to his busy practice, Mr. Johnson attended and graduated from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s Deposition Skills course.

Born and raised in Lexington, South Carolina, Mr. Johnson decided to move to Charleston after high school to attend The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he was a proud member of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and Dean’s List recipient. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from The Citadel, Mr. Johnson worked in the insurance industry, where he saw firsthand how insurance companies operate, which is what inspired him to attend law school to become an advocate for those who are injured.

Mr. Johnson is a summa cum laude graduate of the Charleston School of Law where he was a Presidential Honors Scholar and finished in the top three of his graduating class. While in law school, Mr. Johnson was a Legal Research and Writing teaching assistant for two years and was appointed to the Honor Council by his peers. He further served as President of the Business Law Society for two years and received multiple CALI Awards for the highest grades in his classes.

During his second year of law school, Mr. Johnson became an Articles Editor for the Law Review where he authored a publication titled Rule 68 and the High Cost of Litigation: The Best Defense Weapon of Which You’ve Never Heard and its Missed Opportunity to Promote Settlement.  He was further selected to the Moot Court Board, which gave him the opportunity to compete in a national Moot Court Competition, where he took home the individual award for Best Oral Advocate.  Finally, Mr. Johnson was selected to the Trial Advocacy Board and received an award for Best Direct Examination during competition.  This gave Mr. Johnson and his brother, Steven Johnson, the opportunity to represent their law school in the National Trial Advocacy Competition where their team ranked in the top ten.

In addition to his school activities, Mr. Johnson continuously worked both as a summer associate and as a law clerk during the school year for multiple large southeast civil defense litigation firms.  While Mr. Johnson appreciated the knowledge and experience he gained from working solely on litigation teams, he always knew that his desire was to represent plaintiffs after graduation, as opposed to practicing civil defense.

Mr. Johnson’s painstaking attention to detail has served his clients well throughout the litigation process and especially with regard to discovery.  Specifically, Mr. Johnson on numerous occasions has spent countless hours, nights, and weekends reviewing hundreds of thousands of pages and piecing together deficiencies in the documents produced by the opposing party.  This drive has led to the successful resolution of cases, which otherwise may have unnecessarily gone to trial.

When not zealously advocating for his clients, Mr. Johnson enjoys the outdoors whether it be winter or summer activities.  When it’s cold, you can find him engaging in one of his many sportsman activities or cheering on The Citadel Bulldogs.  When it’s warm, you can find him on the water.
